Jenni Bowlin Kit---DONE!!!
I know some of you thought I would never get around to doing something creative. Well, this weekend I managed to finish my Jenni Bowlin January kit and I just love the results!!! I was going to give it away as a Valentine's gift but I decided to keep it for myself as a mini-Mommy brag book. Sorry that some of the photos are a bit fuzzy. I followed most of Jenni's templates but also used some of my own papers and ephemera. I love how it turned out. I did the whole thing in two hours and it was quite satisfying!

Eureka!
Remember when I was trying to find a project idea for all of the glass baby formula bottles I have been saving? Well, I have been combing through the back issues of Inspired Ideas (and wondering how I have missed this wonderful ezine all this time!)when I spotted Amy's May Day project idea. Wouldn't you know that one of the May Day "baskets" using a baby food jar?! Yippee! I have visions of creating little May Day jars to leave on the doors of my neighbors houses. The project idea can be found here. And if you have not found Inspire Co's Inspired Ideas before, take some time to go through the back issues. The ideas and projects are wonderful!!! (as is the blogger)
I have to admit I'm starting to look forward to Spring. I feel like I am finally getting past the Post-Partum Depression I have been struggling with and I'm trying to stay positive and focus on the blessings in my life.
I still owe you photos of my Jenni Bowlin project and I'll try to take them tonight!

30 Years of Stickers
As some of you may know, I have been a fan of Mrs. Grossman's stickers since I was a child. I am now lucky enough to live in the same town as the sticker factory which REALLY comes in handy for a crafter who likes to work with stickers! Mrs. Grossman's is celebrating their 30th year in business with a very special limited edition tin filled with heart stickers. The very first sticker that Mrs. Grossman made was a perfect red heart (seen above center in photo) so this tin is filled with love and very timely since it comes before Valentine's Day! They are only available while supplies last and you can get them here. I already have mine and now I just have to decide whether to horde the stickers or use them!

Busy Bee
My head is just buzzing with potential projects! But the best news is....I got a sewing machine! My mother finally bought me one and we are going to share it. I have decided to break it in using Amy Karol's new MailOrder pattern for slippers. Find it over at Angry Chicken.
I also need to complete my new Jenni Bowlin kit. It is the cutest little postage stamp album that I thought would make a good Valentine's project.
My friend Monique and I are going to do a Knit-a-long starting on February 1. If you are a knitter, feel free to join in! We will be making the Noni Adventure Bag in Medium:
Could be amibitious but I'll have Monique to help me.
So many wonderful creative ideas out there right now. I'll finish these projects and then figure out what I want to do for my Easter corsage!

Corsages and a Craft-a-long
First, the talented Elizabeth Holcombe opened her Etsy shop with handmade bags and pincushions. Then, she added wreaths and corsages. And the corsages she has been making lately have just blown me away! Beth was kind enough to share a tutorial not long ago:

The corsage pictured above is from Beth's Etsy shop. I wasn't fast enough and didn't get to swoop it up! However, I'm thinking that corsages go best with Easter. Don't you? I'm picturing myself wearing a special Easter corsage. And maybe even making one for my mom. So, I've been thinking...
I'm not sure if I'm up for a formal swap but would anyone be up for a Craft-a-long? We could all make Easter corsages together and then post photos. What do you think? If you'd be interested in something like this, leave a comment. And remember, you can always have Beth make one for you!

In Praise (and Defense) of Stuff
My husband is a simple man. Before we got together, he lived in a small apartment with the bare necessities. I blew through his life like Sherman through Georgia and left a trail of "stuff" in my wake. Now, we rent a house with a large garage that is packed to the gills with things.
First of all, I like to be prepared for any contingency. So, I have lots of "stuff" for emergencies. Then, I have decorations for holidays which fill up practically a whole wall of the garage. Then, of course, there are my crafting items. I now hesitate to throw a lot of things away because I worry that they could be recycled/repurposed for a future craft project. And then there are the books. Oh the books! I lost count at 1000. (and that is 1000 HARDCOVER books, people) There is limited space in the house so I have to keep many of them in boxes in the garage. I dream of having a library someday.
I think the stuff that my husband least understands is the assorted family/childhood memoribilia. He doesn't have much of that left for various reasons. I admit that to most people, it may seem unnecessary to hang on to childhood toys and drawings and old Christmas cards. My mother recently moved out here and I have been helping her unpack boxes. She has lots of my childhood toys and it has really affected me seeing them again. Would my life go on just fine without my old toys? Of course it would. But, as human beings, we forget things. Those toys trigger long-forgotten memories and feelings. So do the other assorted trappings in my mother's storage unit. I guess part of me worries that if I get rid of those things, I will lose the memories associated with them.
And then there are the big things. Like my grandfather's La-z-boy. I had it recovered awhile back. Yes, it's old. Yes, it's not the most comfortable chair in the world. But it was the only place my grandfather sat and I can't help but feel maybe some of his essence lingers on there. When I sit in that chair with my baby, I feel a connection to my long-lost grandfather.
Do I hold onto stuff? Yes. Could I do without a lot of it? Of course I could. Am I overstuffed? Most definitely. But for now, I just want to open a box, pull out a toy or childhood drawing and be transported back in time and relive those moments of childhood and family members long gone.

Lullabies
Now that I am back to work five days a week, the few hours I get to spend with baby every day are very precious. I sing to him constantly. I have collected a few favorites. He particularly likes "Hunger" by VOICES ON THE VERGE. I sing him most of the songs from the O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU soundtrack. Occasionally, I throw in "Baby Mine" from DUMBO. And now, I will be introducing some lovely lullabies by Erin Ivey from Austin. You are listening to one right now and I think they are really sweet. You can get Erin's lullabies as free downloads here:
