Your Opinion Solicited

I was really expecting to have a girl so now I have to readjust my thinking. I always wanted to do a nursery in green. I just love a nice spring green. I'm thinking green and yellow might work and I like this "cottontail" themed room from Pottery Barn. Is it too girly for a boy? I don't want to get too gender-biased because I don't believe in that. But, I'd like your opinion.

Congrats! So cute! My 18 month old boy has a room done in green with a little blue and it has worked really well. I don't think that looks girly at all. Have fun decorating!

It's definitely NOT too girly. It's adorable! You could add a few seriously blue accents if you have any real concerns.

Look at all the brown in there too. Not too girly for a boy in my opinion. I say go for it.
Congrats on a new baby!

Boys are cute too!
My daughter Amy used the green in her nursery so as then it can be used for either a boy or girl. For girls a touch of pink goes well and for boys it looks wonderful with blue and brown.
She had a little boy in October so the blues and browns have been added. It looks great.
I think what you have picked for a boy would look fabulous.
Congratulations - he will melt your heart.

My husband (an expert on being a boy) says that it's fine, but you might have to change it when he turns 16. I personally think it's precious, and love the rabbit idea. :)

not at all! by the time the baby has out grown his crib, you'll be ready to redo the color scheme and matching accessories! no worries!

If you want to go by popular fashion culture, girls have pink and lavender wrapped up tight, boys of course rule blue and to a large degree, brown - although brown and pink is a big girl thing this year. If you look at the little sleepers and what not, there seems to be more yellow and green in the boys' section. So following that reasoning, green and yellow are fine. However, I strongly feel that all colors are fine for boys AND girls, so I wouldn't worry about it no matter what colors you'd mentioned. More importantly I think, do you line up with those that think peaceful colors for a baby - calming, etc. Or the bright contrasts for babies camp - babies love stimulation. And of course beyond all that, what no mom wants to believe, decorating the nursery is almost all for the mom. In my experience, the babies themselves don't spend a lot of time in there. Babies are a pretty smart bunch and prefer being where the grown ups hang out.

Of course that would have made more sense if I'd used all the words I meant to use - "no NEW mom wants to believe".

Thanks for the comments! I will definitely be using green as a base color and I'm leaning towards farmyard animals. I'll keep you posted on what I decide. I still have lots of time to obsess about this!!!

Hi, I just came across your blog, and love this baby set. My oldest, now 25 and a girl had a green and yellow nursery. When I had my son, 10 years later, he also had a yellow and green room. It was only my daughter in between the other two who did not. They are all happy, well adjusted and very artistic and creative. You just can't go wrong with this color scheme. Very good luck to you and the baby. Susan
